BRANDON, MB – The Brandon University Board of Governors is pleased to welcome Dr. Deborah Poff as the 14th President and Vice-Chancellor of Brandon University, along with her husband, Dr. Alex Michalos.
Dr. Poff, a Professor of Philosophy, comes to Brandon University from the University of Northern British Columbia, where she was the founding Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science and served for 10 years as the Vice-President Academic and Provost.

In 2008, graduates of the Psychiatric Nursing and Nursing Departments of the School of Health Studies achieved a 97-98‰ success rate on their first attempt at national registration examinations. Congratulations to Dr. Kathryn Hyndman on receiving $14,500.00 from the Canadian Tobacco Control Research Initiative for her project entitled, “Research Planning Grant: A Survey of Health Professional Student Training in Tobacco Reduction Counselling on the Canadian Prairies”.

The School of Health Studies is pleased to announce that Dr. Renee Robinson, Dr. Kathryn Hyndman and Dr. Dean Care have been appointed as Research Affiliates with the newly restructured Manitoba Centre for Nursing and Health Research (formerly the Manitoba Nursing Research Institute). The MCNHR operates within the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Manitoba.

BRANDON, MB – Brandon University’s School of Health Studies is pleased to announce a new course offering this spring in Nutrition and Health Promotion. The new course will run May 4 to June 15 from 6:30 PM. to 9:30 PM. on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
On June 9, 2009, the Senate of Brandon University approved that the First Nations and Aboriginal Counseling (FNAC) program be situated within the School of Health Studies. This move was one of the recommendations put forward by an External Review Committee team that evaluated the FNAC program earlier this year.
This summer the School of Health Studies at Brandon University received approval for both its nursing programs.
The College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba granted approval for the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing program until the spring of 2013.
