Brandon University was proud to celebrate Indigenous graduates at the “Our Journey: Celebrating Indigenous Student Success” event, held on Friday, May 22.
Due to forecast rain, it was moved from the Riverbank Discovery Centre instead to the Manitoba Room at the Keystone Centre. Perhaps uniquely, “Our Journey” is a graduation celebration that brings together Brandon University, Assiniboine College, and the Brandon School Division.
“We share our pride as a full community, not merely as individual institutions,” wrote BU President Christine Bovis-Cnossen in a message to campus. “Celebrating together is a wonderful reminder that nothing we accomplish is done in isolation, we are always surrounded and supported by others. The flip side of that is the pleasure we can take in seeing the accomplishments and achievements of others, and knowing that we did all we could to help them out along the way.”
The “Our Journey” even began with a pipe ceremony, then featured a Grand Entry, a powwow, and a feast.
