BU launches major leadership recruitment

New Year, new opportunities

Brandon University has opened recruitment for several key leadership positions that will strengthen financial management, enhance institutional effectiveness, and support the ongoing care and development of the campus environment.

As posted now on the university’s Employment Opportunities page, with wide advertising through partners like LinkedIn and Academica Group, BU is seeking a Controller, a Director of Integrated Planning & Effectiveness, and a Director of Business Operations. Recruitment for a Director of Physical Plant will follow shortly.

While the vacancies were largely created through routine retirements and resignations, their overlap has created a rare opportunity for Brandon University: a moment to reimagine important administrative structures and better align capacity with the needs of a growing, modern institution.

In recent years, BU has made strong progress in strengthening support for teaching and research — most notably through the creation of the Office of Research Services and Graduate Studies. These new and renewed roles will bring similar, much-needed momentum to the administrative side, helping take advantage of opportunities and avoid the bottlenecks that have frustrated students, faculty, and staff alike.

“These searches give us the chance to rethink how we do our work, to bring in fresh perspectives, and to make sure our systems are set up for success,” said Peter Hickey, BU’s Vice-President, Administration & Finance. “We are looking for leaders who will help us act more decisively, improve our processes, and support the entire campus community.”

The roles collectively focus on modernizing financial systems, strengthening data-informed planning, improving purchasing and procurement processes, and ensuring that BU’s physical spaces are well-managed and cared for. Together, they will help BU become more nimble, more accountable, and better able to deliver on institutional goals.

Brandon University encourages faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to help spread the word by sharing these postings within their professional networks.

“Attracting great leaders is a campuswide effort,” Hickey said. “We invite everyone to share these opportunities and help us welcome strong, talented colleagues to BU.”
