BU student’s life-saving response earns attention

Brandon University student Derrick Donovan is studying to be a psychiatric nurse, but he’s no stranger to the health-care system. In fact, he’s already a primary care paramedic as well as a certified Red Cross and first aid instructor.

But it is through his work in security at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg that the former infantry soldier is being recognized for his life-saving efforts with naloxone — responding to a double overdose and saving two lives.
