Westman music lovers are in for an entertaining and eclectic evening as the Brandon University (BU) School of Music faculty takes centre-stage for a pro series performance on Tuesday, Feb. 11. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall, inside the Queen Elizabeth II Music Building.
The program will feature works by Barbara York, Ravel and Jorge Montilla, to name a few, and performances by a wide range of talented musicians from across the School of Music. Faculty performers include: Luis Deniz, saxophone; Kerry DuWors, violin; Greg Gatien, saxophone; Nancy Hennen, flute; Diogo Peixoto, electric bass; Eric Platz, drums; Alexander Tselyakov, piano; Daniel Tselyakov, piano; Nora Wilson, tuba; Catherine Wood, clarinet; and Leanne Zacharias, ’cello. They will be joined by guests Teri Parker, jazz piano; Danielle Guina, piano; and Tyleen Haywood, upright bass.
“To me, there’s no better way for our group to bond than by coming together to rehearse and perform some of our favourite music for our community,” said Greg Gatien, Dean of Music at BU. “It’s been a delight to assemble such a superb group of musicians and educators, and I think our enthusiasm for the material will shine through on stage.”
All are welcome, and tickets will be available at the door. Admission is $20 for adults, and free for BU and Conservatory of Music students.
Please note that seating in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall is limited and that programs are subject to change. For an up-to-date listing of pro series and student performances, please visit Events.BrandonU.ca/Events/Category/Music.
