The annual festival of creativity and celebration of art known as “Nuit Blanche” returns to Brandon at the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba this Saturday, and Brandon University artists are among the main attractions.
More than half a dozen faculty are presenting, including Deanna Smid, Lisa Wood, Kevin McKenzie, Andrée Dagenais, Megumi Masaki, Leanne Zacharias, and Jimmie Kilpatrick, as well as many students from the university’s visual art, creative writing and music programs. Zacharias is also one of the event’s two producers, alongside AGSM Artistic Director Lucie Lederhendler.
The theme of this year’s Nuit Blanche, the city’s sixth, is “Curious Dialogues,” selected to encourage would-be participants to think about where an open sense of wonder will lead them, and to whom. This free, all-ages event will transform the AGSM for one unique evening of multi-disciplinary art and performance on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 5–11 p.m.
