Student Accessibility Services teams up with BUSU to present Access Awareness Week

In recognition of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Monday, Dec. 3, the Brandon University Students’ Union (BUSU) and Student Accessibility Services at BU are celebrating Access Awareness Week.

Events have been planned for Dec. 3—5, with the theme this year of “empowering persons with disability and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.”

Student Panel — “What does Inclusion Mean to me?”

  • Join us to hear a BU student panel to learn about their experiences with disability and inclusion.
  • Please join us for a reception welcoming the Canadian Federation of Students, Manitoba.

  • 10 a.m.—3 p.m.
  • Find out about services and programs in the Brandon area available for those experiencing disability.


December 5, 2018

Presentation —The Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA): Why is it important?
  • Louis Riel Room, McMaster Hall
  • 2—3 p.m.
  • Listen to a presentation on the groundbreaking government act. Learn what it means for all Manitobans.


Movie Night — “Finding Nemo”
  • Elephant Room, Knowles-Douglas Students’ Union Centre
  • 6:30—9:00 p.m.
  • Join us in watching “Finding Nemo.” Following will be a discussion about portrayal of disability in the movie.
  • Families are welcome. Popcorn will be provided.
