Ms. Katie Gross has been appointed Dean of Students at Brandon University. Following a thorough national search, the University Selection Committee established for the purpose recommended her appointment to the President, who in turn endorsed her selection to the Board of Governors (BoG). The BoG made the appointment official by a mail ballot yesterday.
Of course Katie is no stranger to Brandon University, and has worked in Student Affairs under two names: Katie Gross, and Katie Whelpton. She has been Acting Dean of Students since late in 2016. Prior to that, she held the position of Director of Recruitment and Retention in Student Services (2010-16), and was earlier Executive Officer to the President of the University and to the Board of Governors (2000-06). She knows BU well and has been a great asset to the institution throughout her career. She enjoys a wonderful relationship with students, whose interests she has been protecting and advancing in her more recent posts, and has earned their trust both on an individual and collective basis. She displays a contagious enthusiasm for BU and its future. She will continue to provide sound leadership to the various offices in Student Services, including the Academic Skills Centre, Accessibility Services, Career Planning and Placement, Indigenous Peoples’ Centre and Aboriginal Relations, International Activities, Recruitment and Retention and Residence Programs.
Please extend a warm welcome to Katie in her new permanent post at Brandon University.
