Dr. Ted Hewitt, President of Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), celebrates Rural Policy Learning Common’s new engagement card with Dr. Bill Ashton. Ted opened the national forum: Imagining Canada’s Future in Ottawa Canada. Ted quoted Albert Einstein: “logic gets you from A to B, imagination gets you everywhere.”
Later in the day Bill provided highlights of a recent study on the use of big data sets in research on immigration. This work adds to a well-established strategic research direction at RDI. Bill thanked both the co-investigator Dr. Lori Wilkinson, University of Manitoba, chair of the Immigration Research West, and the project lead, Helen Galatsanou, from RDI.
