Brandon University unveils RESPECT campaign

This article is over 8 years old.

Brandon University (BU) is excited to launch its new RESPECT campaign.

The campaign, with the theme of RESPECT: Pass it Along, strives to initiate dialogue about what ‘respect’ means to members of the BU community and how we can all work together to make it integral to our campus culture.

“The RESPECT Campaign is about the future of the university through the actions we take today,” says BU President Gervan Fearon.

“Today, the RESPECT Campaign is being launched and together we will contribute to a working and learning environment that is supportive, caring and inclusive.”

The RESPECT Campaign has been developed to align with the priorities identified in the 2014 Guarding Minds Survey. The campaign aims to reinforce and build on established efforts to foster a working and learning environment at BU where members of the campus community

  • show esteem, care and consideration for one another, acknowledging the dignity of others;
  • engage in open dialogue and debate within a framework of mutual respect; and
  • principles of diversity and inclusion are reflected in all aspects of campus life.

One of the first steps of the campaign will be for administration to participate in the self-paced Respect in the Workplace online program. Faculty and staff will also be invited to take part, with details to follow shortly.

The various elements of the campaign are intended to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, tools and resources necessary for ensuring an environment and culture of respect.
