Brandon University Foundation Meets to Review Year

BRANDON, MB — The Brandon University Foundation board met this morning for its annual general meeting. On the agenda were various issues, including financial reports. With the help of the Foundation, its members and the individuals who donated to Brandon University this year, more than $2 million was raised for scholarships, bursaries, library and capital resources, research and other projects. Significant amounts were raised through the Annual Fund, the Presidents’ Circle and the Legacy Gifts program.

The meeting concluded with a luncheon that celebrated the links between the University, its Foundation and the generous donors who make a significant difference in the lives of BU students. The University’s President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Deborah Poff and the Foundation President Ed Mazer were on hand to welcome the incoming Foundation President Nathan Peto, to recognize three retiring BU Foundation members as well as to induct contributors, including 32 new members, into the Order of the Sheaf.

As well, Brandon University is continuing the quiet phase of its fundraising activities, related to $22 million BUILD campaign. There are three components to this latest initiative: the Healthy Living Centre, the Aboriginal Student Success program and the Competitive Scholarship and Bursaries for Excellence program.

The Brandon University Foundation was formed in 1980, with the goal of supporting the development of quality education at Brandon University as well as enhancing campus resources. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than $40 million.
