BRANDON, MB – The Brandon Bobcats men’s volleyball team is welcoming another player with international experience to its roster. Sam Tuivai of Auckland, New Zealand is the newest member of Bobcat athletics. The 6’4 outside hitter has experience with New Zealand’s national team, and most recently spent time playing in the club ranks in China.

“I don’t want to focus on what I bring to the team. If we focus on team-work, effort, and everyone working together we will be successful as a team.” says Tuivai.  “The team has a ton on potential, and if we maintain the work effort I’ve been seeing so far everything will be fine.”

Tuivai has been registered as a full-time student at BU since the start of the school year, and has now arrived in Brandon to study and train full-time. Although it’s a new country, city and team, one aspect is familiar to Tuivai, as he will be re-united with former team-mate Ben Glue. The two played together for the national team in New Zealand before coming to Canada.

“Having played with Ben gave me a little bit of a boost to come here, because that obviously makes the transition at the beginning a little more comfortable, but I’m sure as I fit in and meet new people things will be really good,” adds Tuivai.

Tuivai will see his first Canada West regular season action this weekend as the Bobcats travel to Calgary to take on the Dinos.
