BRANDON, MB – The pre-season is over, and the 2011-2012 Canada West Conference regular season is upon us. Two Bobcats have been named Athlete of the Month for their contributions in October.
BEN GLUE is the winner of the Tip Top Tailors Male Athlete of the Month for October. Following a dazzling start at the Super 8 Tournament and the Cougar Invitational in Regina, the Nelson, New Zealand product has continued to impress after arriving in Canada just two months ago.
In his first two CIS regular season matches against the University of Manitoba Bisons last weekend, Glue put up 14 kills and 8 digs last Friday, and followed it up with 17 kills and 7 digs on Saturday. His contributions landed him at fifth spot in the conference in kills and sixth in points.
JAYNELL GILLETT had an outstanding pre-season, earning her the Pantages on Park Salon and Spa Female Athlete of the Month honour for October.
In six pre-season games Gillett helped the Bobcats to a 4-2 record by putting up 17 points per games and 8.3 rebounds per game. The Bonnyville, Alberta product will have an expanded role on the Bobcats this year, in what will be her second season with the Bobcats, but her third year as a CIS athlete.
Gillett spent her first season in the university ranks as a track athlete at the University of Calgary before transferring to BU in the summer of 2010.
