BRANDON, MB – Brandon University is pleased to announce that Russ Paddock will take over as acting athletic director.
Paddock is a former Olympian and the current head coach of the Bobcats men’s volleyball team. Since the team’s inception in 2005 Paddock has led the Bobcats to two national championship appearances, including a third-place finish in 2009 and most recently a silver medal this past season.
“I think we have a good group of coaches and staff in the athletic department and I’m looking forward to supporting them in the coming year,” says Paddock. “I’m also excited about our new facility and the opportunities it will bring to BU athletics.”
Paddock’s new role will be for a one-year term. The search will begin for an on-going athletic director in January of 2012.
“We’re really excited to have Russ in this role. He brings significant experience in both the university and league, so it should be a seamless transition,” says BU’s vice-president of administration and finance Scott Lamont.
Paddock’s first day as acting Athletic Director will be May 28. He will remain as head coach of the men’s volleyball team.
