BRANDON, MB – Two fifth-year volleyball players are ending their playing days with another award to their credit. Becky Young has been named the Pantages on Park Female athlete of the month and Kevin Miller is the Tip Top Tailors male athlete of the month for February.
Young brings an extremely successful career to a close as the school’s all-time career assists leader with 3,335. The Souris, MB product also sits second in the Canada West all-time career record book for assists with the same number. She also led her team to a fourth-consecutive Canada West playoff berth against provincial rival Manitoba Bisons. Now that her days as a Bobcat athlete are done she will join head coach Lee Carter’s coaching staff as an assistant next year.
Kevin Miller helped the Bobcats men’s volleyball team to the program’s first ever CIS national final match where the ‘Cats won a silver medal. Miller was outstanding in Brandon’s semi-final match against the McMaster Marauders where he put up 24 kills on 37 swings with only three errors. Miller was named a tournament all-star at nationals. Miller’s spectacular month was also highlighted by 101 kills over five matches in Canada West playoffs.
