BRANDON, MB – Brandon University Athletics will provide free admission to Westman Special Olympics athletes on Saturday, January 8 when the Bobcats host the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
There are more than 200 Special Olympians in the Westman region who compete in numerous sports, including floor hockey, swimming, and track and field. All Special Olympic athletes are invited to attend and cheer on the Bobcats at the BU Gymnasium as well as take part in some unique games, like a free-throw competition.
The Saturday game is part of a weekend series that should provide lots of firepower as both Huskies teams enter Bobcat country. The Huskies men’s basketball team won last year’s CIS national championship and feature two of the top four scorers in Canada West — junior guard Jamelle Barrett and former Bobcat Rejean Chabot.
The women’s team from Saskatchewan is ranked second in the nation and is currently enjoying an 8-2 record.
Tickets for Bobcats’ games are available at the Athletics office in the BU Gymnasium or at the door on game night.
