BRANDON, MB — The fourth-year Bachelor of Business Administration students in Associate Professor Michael Malazdrewicz’s Small Business Management class will be digging into real-life situations in February, for a six week project. However, to do so, they will need to collaborate with Brandon businesses.
“We are looking for local businesses to turn a problem over to our students and give them a chance to develop some creative solutions,” said Michael Malazdrewicz.
This free service is available to all Brandon-owned and run businesses and is managed through the new Brandon University Business Listing (BUBL).
The students involved will use their business knowledge to target specific concerns, like slow sales, finding new customers, retaining existing customers and similar issues. To meet class expectations, the students will need to visit the business to which they are assigned, meet the owners, review the situation at hand, and develop a creative, multi-faceted plan.
“We usually complete 12 to 15 projects each year,” he said. “The students enjoy the reality of the assignments and the businesses usually come away with something they can actually implement.”
