BU horticultural hotline returns to assist local green thumbs

BRANDON, MB – The Brandon University Hort-Line – the Horticultural Hotline – will be in operation for the 2009 summer beginning on Monday, May 17.

  The Hort-Line will be available for local green thumbs to call for help with plant, tree and lawn problems.

  This year, Padraic Mahood will be on the other end, answering calls and providing assistance. Mahood can be reached at (204) 727-9783, or by email at hortline@brandonu.ca. Callers from outside of Brandon should be prepared to leave their full name, address and postal code, as replies to callers outside Brandon will be sent by mail.

  In addition to the hotline, specimens may be brought to the University for inspection. They can be dropped off at Room 3-27, on the third Floor, of the Brodie Science Building at the corner of 18th Street and Louise Avenue. Samples and specimens can also be mailed to:

The Hort Hotline is co-sponsored by Career Focus, the Province of Manitoba, and the Biology Department and Faculty of Science at Brandon University. The Manitoba Agriculture “Plant Disease Identification Form” has been very useful in assisting Hort Line staff with diagnosis of problems.
