BU to host 2nd annual Senior Colloquium

This article is over 14 years old.

BRANDON, MB – Following the success of last year’s first ever Senior Colloquium, Brandon University is set to host the second annual event, Tuesday, April 13.

“Brandon University offers senior undergraduate students a unique opportunity to engage in research activities that are often reserved for graduate students at other universities. This event highlights some of the research accomplishments possible here,” said Dr. Scott Grills, Vice-President (Academic and Research).

The event consists of third and fourth year students presenting their research projects in a range of departments and programs in Arts and Science. In addition to the event being in an academic environment with colleagues and faculty, friends, family and the general public are also invited to attend.

“This is a unique opportunity for students to present their work, practice their presentation skills, and share their interests,” says Dr. James Naylor, event organizer. “It is also an important occasion for the university to share the achievements of our students with the broader community and let them know about the quality of our students and the breadth of our programs.”

This year’s presentations include such areas of research as: History, Biology, Rural Studies, and Gender and Women’s Studies. Topics will include The Manitoba Pool Library’s role in rural education and public libraries in Manitoba and Women at Brandon College in the 1950’s.

The second annual Senior Colloquium will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Room 141 of the Health Studies Complex. The colloquium will run all day until approximately 9:00 p.m.
