BRANDON, MB – Hard work and dedication do not go unrewarded, as Bobcats athletes will earn some early holiday recognition.
Brandon University Athletics will honour six Academic All-Canadians at a luncheon Sunday, December 6, at 1 p.m. in the Victoria Inn.
Each year the Canadian Interuniversity Sport organization recognizes student-athletes across Canada that have achieved a high standard of excellence on the playing field and in the classroom. The BU student-athletes that will be receiving their certificates from the CIS head office in Ottawa are:
- Jennalee Burch (Brandon, MB)
- Amanda Fortin (Saskatoon, SK)
- Shaun Funk (Winkler, MB)
- Chelsey Hiebert (Winnipeg, MB)
- Christie Anne McCullough (Outlook, SK)
- Patrick Thompson (Forrest, MB)
Each of these student-athletes have been able to maintain a straight “A” average (3.7 GPA), while playing varsity athletics for the Bobcats.
“In addition to a rigorous academic schedule, our athletes will dedicate an additional twenty hours per week in the demanding Canada West conference,” says Athletic Director, Kirk De Fazio. “ This is an amazing accomplishment, of which we are extremely proud of these exemplary role models for the University.”
Dean for the Faculty of Education, Jerry Storie, along with community Bobcat sponsors, will help celebrate these outstanding individuals at their first All-Canadian luncheon.
