BRANDON, MB –The Brandon University School of Music is welcoming future students to take in the ambiance before they become part of the international acclaim.

The BU School of Music Annual Open House will occur Thursday and Friday, October 29 and 30, 2009. All potential Bachelor of Music students are invited to Brandon University to learn more about the School of Music and the University.

Prospective students will have the opportunity to hear students and faculty in concert, attend music history and theory classes, receive a private lesson, observe or participate in ensemble rehearsals, meet professors and other students, and tour the exquisite Queen Elizabeth II building.

“Many prominent solo, chamber and orchestral musicians, music educators, conductors, arts administrators and other leaders in the arts have called Brandon University home,” says Dr. Michael Kim, Dean of the School of Music. “I hope that future students will take advantage of this unique opportunity to experience our School of Music.”

The School of Music at Brandon University has a history dating back to 1906. Since that time, BU has developed a reputation as one of the foremost institutions of musical instruction in Canada.

“I was almost certain that studying music education at BU was the choice for me, but attending the open house made me one hundred percent sure that this was where I was supposed to be,” says first-year School of Music student Justine Gould.
